Privacy policy
Last updated October 2026
The short version: we ask only for what a dispatcher needs to call you back, the numbers you type into our calculators never leave your browser, and we never ask for credit, bank or loan details.
This policy covers rigcaptain.com and is published by RigCaptain ("we", "us"). It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. It does not cover the written dispatch agreement you may sign later, which has its own terms.
What we collect
When you apply for dispatch
The application asks for your rig type, number of trucks, whether you hold a CDL, whether you have your own authority, your MC or DOT number, the age of your authority, preferred lanes or home base, your name, mobile number, email, the best time to call and an optional note. We use these to decide which freight fits your truck, to work out the fee tier that applies to you and to call you back.
When you ask for a factoring quote
The quote form asks for your monthly invoice volume, number of trucks, MC or DOT number, whether you factor today, what matters most to you, and your name, phone and email. These go to our factoring partner, RTS, so they can contact you with a quote, as the form says next to the button.
When you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, email, an optional phone number and your message. We use it to reply.
What we never ask for
We are not a lender, broker, dealer or insurer. No form on this site asks for a Social Security number, date of birth, credit score, bank account, card number, load board login or password. Please do not send them to us.
Calculator inputs stay on your device
Our tools run in your browser. The prices, rates, payments and weights you type are kept in your browser's local storage under the name "My Deal" so the next tool can reuse them. They are not sent to us. You can clear them from any tool, or by clearing this site's data in your browser. An application you start but do not send is held in session storage until you close the tab.
The VIN decoder sends only the VIN you type to the free vPIC service run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which returns what the manufacturer built. It sends no name or contact details.
Technical data and cookies
Like every website, our servers and our hosting and security providers receive your IP address, browser type and the page requested. We use the IP address briefly to limit repeated form submissions and to block abuse, and our providers may run bot checks on form submissions. We may use privacy-focused analytics to count page views and button clicks in aggregate. We do not use advertising cookies and do not build profiles to sell ads. If a link takes you to a partner's website, that partner may set its own cookies to record that you came from us; their privacy policy applies there.
Why we use your information
- To call, text or email you about the dispatch service you asked about, under the consent you gave on the form.
- To pass a factoring request to RTS, only when you send one.
- To reply to messages, fix problems you report and correct our guides.
- To keep the site secure and to meet legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run the site for us: hosting and security, and Resend, the email service that delivers form submissions to our desk and sends your confirmation email. They may use the data only to provide that service.
- Our factoring partner, RTS, and only for factoring quote requests.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
When we book freight for you as your dispatcher, brokers receive your carrier packet. That happens under your dispatch agreement, with your knowledge, not through this website.
Calls and texts
If you tick the consent box, we may call or text the number you gave about dispatch services, including by automated means. Consent is not a condition of service. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to opt out, or tell the dispatcher on the phone. Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about loads you have agreed to haul.
How long we keep it
We keep applications and messages for as long as we are talking with you or dispatching your truck, and after that for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require. Applications that never become a dispatch relationship are deleted within 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it or stop contacting you. Some US states give residents these rights by law; we honor the same requests from anyone in the United States. We will confirm your request through the email or phone number on file before acting, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Security
Forms are sent over an encrypted connection, and access to submissions is limited to the people who need them to dispatch or reply. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we collect small.
Children
This site is for trucking businesses and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For privacy requests or questions, use the contact page. See also our terms of use and partner disclosure. To apply for dispatch, use the application.
