A dispatch desk that reads the deal sheet first

RigCaptain is a truck dispatch service for carriers who run under their own authority, or are about to. We find freight, negotiate the rate and keep the paperwork moving. You decide every load.

Why a dispatcher writes about buying trucks

Ask a carrier what keeps them up at night and the answer is rarely a load. It is the payment. The truck note, the insurance and the repair fund show up every month whether the wheels turn or not, and most of that bill was decided on the day the truck was bought.

A dispatcher sees the other half of that equation every day: what a box truck, a reefer or a step deck actually grosses in a normal week, what empty miles cost and how much a slow month bites. A dealer is paid when the deal closes. We are paid only when your truck hauls a load, so we have every reason to want the deal to work for years.

So before a carrier signs for a truck, we would rather they ran three numbers: the gross the truck needs each week to cover the payment and costs, the rate per mile that gross takes on their lanes, and how many slow weeks their savings can carry. If those numbers do not work on paper, no dispatcher can make them work on the road.

That is why this site carries a library of buying, leasing and financing guides and a set of free calculators next to the dispatch service. They start from your numbers: price, down payment, APR, term, cost per mile and the loads it takes to carry all of it. Use them whether or not you ever hire us.

The desk

The dispatch desk works Mon-Sun, 24/7. Each carrier works with a dispatcher who learns the truck, the lanes, the home time and the lowest rate the carrier will take, and plans the week around them.

When a load fits, the dispatcher negotiates it and brings it to you with the rate, the stops and the weight. Say yes and the broker sends the rate confirmation to your email in your company name. You sign it, or you say no and we keep looking. We never accept or sign a load for you.

Our fee is a share of gross load revenue: 7% while your MC is under 6 months old, then 5% for one truck or 4% for two or more trucks on one MC. The equipment never changes it. There is no setup fee and no minimum, the agreement is month-to-month with 30 days notice, and a week with no loads costs nothing. See the full pricing or how onboarding works.

What we do

  • Search load boards and broker contacts for freight that fits your rig, your lanes and your floor rate.
  • Negotiate the rate before the load reaches you, then offer it to you with the stops, weight and pay.
  • Set up carrier packets with brokers so paperwork does not hold up a load.
  • Handle check calls and broker updates while you drive, and follow up on detention.
  • Send a weekly report with every load, mile, rate and fee, alongside the invoice.

What we do not do

  • Lend money, arrange loans or take credit applications.
  • Lease, sell or broker trucks, or get paid by anyone who does.
  • Sell insurance or quote premiums.
  • Act as a freight broker or sign a rate con on your behalf.
  • Dispatch drivers leased on to another carrier; their carrier does that.

We are not affiliated with any lender, dealer or truck maker named in our guides. The few partners who may pay us for a referral are listed on our disclosure page.

Who writes the guides

Guides and tools are written by Fernandez. Every price, rate and tax figure links to a dated source, every made-up number is labeled EXAMPLE, and finance pages say plainly that they are information, not advice. The rules are in our editorial policy.

Reach us

or use the contact page. If you want loads, the application takes about two minutes and a dispatcher calls you back. If you are still shopping for a truck, call anyway: we would rather talk through the numbers before you sign than after.
